| U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) has urged U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk to act swiftly to enforce terms of the Softwood Lumber Agreement toward preserving jobs of American forest industry workers. She said U.S. lumber producers face continuing unfair competition as a result of British Columbia's provision of government-owned timber to Canadian lumber producers at artificially low stumpage fees, representing a fraction of true market value. - 7/14/2010
