Arauco hires new salesman
Robert Cookish has been named regional sales manager for Ontario for Arauco North America. He will be based out of the Canadian Regional Support Center in Markham, Ont. With the addition of Arauco's new particleboard plant in Grayling, Mich., Cookish will support and expand upon sales of composite and thermally fused laminate panels.

Jean-Guy Sabourin, 71, a veteran of the Canadian plywood industry, died February 2. He worked for a number of companies in Quebec, most recently Produits Forestiers Avantage, La Prairie, Que.

Dick Lerch retires from The Buying Source
After 40-plus years in the industry, Dick Lerch of The Buying Source, Greenville, S.C., retired at the end of 2016. His employment included extended periods with LMC, Builder Marts of America, and most recently The Buying Source. He specialized in Eastern S-P-F.

Veteran trader Kent Marks dies
Robert "Kent" Marks, 53, vice president of sales and marketing at International Beams, Sarasota, Fla., died January 30. He worked his entire adult life in the building materials industry, including a long stretch with BlueLinx/Georgia-Pacific distribution. A funeral service will be held at Peachtree City (Ga.) Forest City Trading Group has announced that Shane Naish is the new president of Birmingham International Forest Products, Birmingham, Ala. Naish has been a top trader with FCTG since he started in 1996, and has been involved with the leadership at BIFP for many years.

Cedar Creek announces new VP of purchasing
Cedar Creek, Oklahoma City, has announced that Paul Wetmore has been named vice president of purchasing. In his new role, he will be responsible for establishing and leading the company's strategic purchasing initiatives. Wetmore joined Cedar Creek in 2004 as an industrial sales manager, and was later promoted to general manager of the Oklahoma City branch. He was named regional manager in 2011 and regional vice president in 2014.

Riddle retires after 21 years at Seneca
Longtime Seneca and Jones family attorney Dale Riddle has retired effective December 31. Riddle began working at Seneca, Eugene, Ore., in January 1995 as full-time in-house legal counsel. Riddle will be succeeded by Cameron Krauss as Seneca's Senior Vice President - Legal Affairs.
