Shasta Green to be down two weeks
Shasta Green Inc., Burney, Calif., will be down the weeks of December 22 and 29. Production is scheduled to resume January 5.
California Redwood to close Korbel sawmill
California Redwood Co. has announced plans to close its sawmill in Korbel, Calif., for an indefinite duration in February. About 106 workers will lose their jobs. The mill was built to cut Redwood, but has recently been cutting Douglas Fir. California Redwood's parent company, Green Diamond Resource Co., will continue to focus on its 400,000 acres of timberland supplying Redwood and Fir logs for the local timber markets. Banks Lumber to curtail at year-end
Banks Lumber, Banks, Ore., will curtail all sawmill and planer production the weeks of December 22 and 29 for year-end maintenance. Production will resume January 5.
Rosboro schedules holiday downtime
Rosboro production facilities in Springfield and Vaughn, Ore., will be down the weeks of December 22 and 29. The shipping department will operate Monday and Tuesday of both weeks.
200 lose jobs after roof collapse at Oregon millwork plant
Executives at Woodgrain Millwork in Prineville, Ore., have informed state officials that they don't plan to restart the mill after the roof collapsed in mid-November. The company will cut more than 200 jobs at that location. Three dozen employees will continue to work at a company pellet mill and an MDF plant in Prineville. For more, click here...
